This tour has been designed for you to have an overview of the completely different lifestyle compared to that of the south!

Your trip begins at Fort Adelaïde (La Citadelle). Enjoy from the fort: the view on the dense city of Port-Louis, the port and the Champs de Mars horserace track. La Citadelle was built between 1834 and 1840 by the British Colony to protect the city from enemies’ attacks. Take the time to walk around in the fort, admiring its antique architecture and canons’ posts. Your next stop will be the Old Market of Port-Louis where you will have the opportunity to indulge in the Mauritian daily lifestyle. Look around for merchants shouting to sell their fresh products and local delicacies. You may wish to buy some souvenirs and tropical fruits there! Our next stop will be at Caudan Waterfront, the most famous shopping mall of our capital city. You may wish to walk around or sit down and sip some fresh sugarcane juice near the docks! Next, we are going to visit an old and famous sugar factory which is now converted into a museum, l’Aventure du Sucre. There you will be entitled to join a guided tour about the whole process of sugar manufacturing, after which you will join the rum and sugar tasting session. You may wish to have lunch at Le Fangourin, the museum’s restaurant. Our next stop will be at the oldest botanical garden of the southern hemisphere, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, Pamplemousses. The botanical garden was built by Pierre Poivre, a French horticulturist and botanist, in 1735 during the French colonisation of Mauritius. Take your time to walk around to explore the relics of the Mauritian history, the different plants brought from all over the world and plants put in soil by various leaders of the world. We are now heading to the most awaited moment of the day, which is a visit to Notre Dame Auxiliatrice de Cap Malheureux, the magnificent Red Roof Church opposite to the Gunner’s Quoin. Enjoy your day!
